The Pokédex entries of the Pokémon games tend to have some hidden gems that many players may miss. After all, with the goal of defeating every trainer and catching every Pokémon in each game, not everyone has the time to read entries about hundreds of Pokémon.

These little tidbits about the Pokémon can be absolutely hilarious, shedding light on the surprising behavior and habitats of each one that the gameplay may not have time to show players. With so many Pokémon appearing in so many games, each game reveals something about a Pokémon that another may not, making it worthwhile to take some time to see what the Pokédexes have to offer.

10 Alolan Raichu absolutely adores the pancakes in Alola

Raichu floating in the air

Alolan Raichu manages to top classic Raichu in cuteness due to its ability to float in the air by standing on its tail. The secret to its appearance, surprisingly, is pancakes. Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee's Pokédexes both state that Raichu absolutely adores the pancakes in Alola, and people speculate that an ingredient in said pancakes is responsible for its unique evolution.

While there are no definite answers as to whether this is true or not, it's funny to consider pancakes are capable of making a Pokémon look so different.

9 Wigglytuff has the ability to inflate itself endlessly

Pokémon: Sapphire's Pokédex describes Wigglytuff's body as very flexible. It has the ability to inflate itself endlessly, leading to many questions as to how big it could make itself or even why it would choose to do that to itself. When inflated, the Pokémon is able to gently bounce like a balloon.

Nothing about its skillset implies that it can do this, nor is there any real reason to start bouncing around, but it would definitely still look adorable while doing so.

8 Feebas has been ridiculed for having a shabby appearance

Encountering a wild feebas

Feebas has it rough. Fire Red and Leaf Green both state that this poor fish Pokémon has been ridiculed for having a shabby appearance, and is so looked down upon that researchers choose to ignore it.

It's very unfortunate, as Milotic, the evolved form of Feebas, is known to be one of the most beautiful Pokémon to ever exist. There are people who actually like Feebas just the way it is, but they end up disappointed when their Feebas evolves into Milotic. The poor Pokémon just can't seem to win.

7 Alola has an ancient tradition in which people slide Sandshrew across the ice

Sandshrew attacks Tyrannitar

Pokémon Moon's Pokédex says that Alola has an ancient tradition in which people slide Sandshrew across the ice in order to see who can make it slide the farthest. It's a very odd sort of competition to have at a festival, but if it is a tradition, Sandshrew must not seem to mind that people slide them around.

The Sandshrew probably aren't the wild kind, as no wild animal would go along with traditions that literally push them around.

6 Gloom's natural odor is utterly foul & its odor can make people faint

Gloom smiling Pokemon

According to Pokémon Yellow, Gloom's natural odor is utterly foul. The stench is so pungent that it is capable of making people faint after getting a whiff of it. However, one out of a thousand people actually love the strong smell of a Gloom.

There is really a Pokémon for every type of trainer, but whoever owns this plant just for the sake of having its stench around surely is not good friends with their neighbors.

5 Meowth loves coins & giving it one is enough to form a fast friendship

Anime Pokemon Team Rocket Meowth Pose

Pokémon: Ultra Moon describes Meowth as a typical feline: it loves coins and giving it one is enough to form a fast friendship with it. However, Meowth is known to be very fickle, so the friendship wouldn't last very long.

People who would want to have a lasting friendship with a Meowth would probably find their wallets empty, but one has to question if a friendship like that would even be worth it. However, having Meowth as a friend and no money most likely means being a member of Team Rocket.

Sudowoodo is happy

Sudowoodo has a very surprising entry in Pokémon: Ultra Sun. Apparently, it is insanely popular amongst the elderly. It's so popular that it even has its own magazine and even some fans.

It's likely that it is so popular among older people since Sudowoodo is a plant that doesn't need to (or rather, doesn't want to) be watered, spending most of its time standing still. It's a mystery how people could publish multiple magazines about a Pokémon that does so little.

3 Alolan Ninetales don't really like people at all

Pokemon Ninetales goes sledding with a trainer

Alolan Ninetales seems generous and helpful at the surface. It guides lost travelers down the mountain. Pokémon: Ultra Sun clarifies Ninetales' reason for doing so. It doesn't really like people at all, and leading people down the mountain means that the people would be able to leave faster.

Although done for selfish reasons, and Ninetales just sees lost people as guests that have overstayed their welcome, it doesn't really change the fact that guiding people is a kind gesture.

2 Spheal enjoy giving their meal a round of applause before they eat

Spheal clapping happily

Pokémon X reveals that Spheal like to clap their fins when they are happy or when they are about to eat. While most people would not clap the moment they receive their meal, the Spheal enjoy giving their meal a round of applause before it gets eaten, making mealtime a very loud occasion.

The thought of Spheal clapping is even funnier given the tiny size of their flippers. Additionally, Spheal find it easier to roll around to get from place to place, which is equally as adorable and hilarious to imagine.

1 Gible enjoys the heat, so owning a Gible in Alola would mean a skyrocketing heating bill

Anime Gible in the wild Pokémon

Pokémon: Ultra Moon's Pokédex describes Gible as a Pokémon that enjoys the heat, as its original home is much hotter than Alola. The Pokédex warns that owning a Gible in Alola would mean a skyrocketing heating bill.

All things come at a cost, but Gible seems like a particularly expensive Pékemon to keep around. Alola isn't exactly a cold place either, so the humidity with the additional heat in the house would just make the living environment unbearable.
